...DIGESTION...

I know there are many things to consider when it comes to our digestion.
Some may produce too much acid, while others produce too little. Why is this important you may ask?

I understand that if we don't produce enough acid we have trouble breaking down our foods. If we do not break down our foods, we could have trouble assimilating and absorbing our foods. Some of us may experience indigestion after eating certain foods. I take Enzymes with my food at EVERY meal! If I have trouble breaking down/digesting protein I might want to take the reasonably priced PROTEASE PLUS which can be found at HolisticSuperstore.com.

When I have trouble breaking down/digesting carbohydrates, I take FOOD ENZYMES or sometimes PROACTAZYME PLUS. The reason? These two help to break down most foods as a whole. I still take Protease Plus when I eat any red meat.

There was a time I had H. pylori bacteria. That was NO fun.
To help my body prevent from getting this nasty little bacteria again, I take GASTRO HEALTH Concentrate everyday.

I also take PROBIOTIC ELEVEN daily. For many years of my life if I was ill, I was given antibiotics to help me. Now they serve a valuable service for us and I am grateful they are around, however, no focus was given to increase the "Good" Flora in our gut after having taken these. Therefore, I feel I need to help replenish the flora and take this Product DAILY! If we don't have enough "Good" Bacteria in our gut, I understand we run the risk of the "Bad" Bacteria growing out of control. I will do my part to keep a healthy balance.

The pain of working out again...

Pulling myself out of "gym retirement" has been a bit of a painful event. OWIE! At first, I thought my joints were being ravaged by a virus that must be consuming my entire body! Then it hit me....you are feeling the effects of muscles being exercised that have not worked this hard in a few months. Now this is the very reason I have no desire to skip my workout schedules, yoga, etc. in the future.

You may ask, is there something you can do to help prevent this sore body? Why yes there is, and thanks for asking! :) For starters, BREATHE! DEEP BREATHING! You see, our abdomen should move with each breath we take. Are you finding your chest moves instead of your tummy with a deep breathe? Well this is called "shallow" breathing. This is common in those of us who are stressed. Therefore, you should focus on learning/training yourself to breathe correctly - tummy should expand with each breath in. :)

Excess Lactic Acid has a "burning" sensation. Shallow breathing makes the body produce lactic acid to get its energy. Some side effects are muscle pains and anxiety. A solution you might consider is extra calcium, which binds with lactic acid, neutralizing its effects by forming calcium lactate, (according to Dr. Carl Reich).Calcium and magnesium combine with lactic acid, neutralizing the negative effect of excess lactic acid, normalizing pH, and normalizing breathing for asthma, emotional disturbances, and restoring the ill health of people in many disease conditions. I would also consider adding Vitamin D3 (bioavailable form), perhaps 10,000 iu per day. There is new evidence pointing to this being the best amount for the average person.

Malic acid supplements, (an acid found naturally in many foods like apples), and produced by the citric acid cycle in the human body itself, has been written about by Holzschlag as "reducing" the effects of excess lactic acid. Drs. Hyde, Cheney, and Goldstein have used it in their practice with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome to improve energy and to help reduce pain.

Shallow breathing makes the body produce lactic acid to get its energy. Some consequences are muscle pains and anxiety. The reason for greater energy is made clear by Lehninger. It doesn't neutralize lactic acid build-up directly. Energy production uses another pathway with malic acid. It was found that malic acid "kicks" red muscles into using oxygen to produce its energy rather than anaerobic ways of doing it! Rather than reducing the effects of lactic acid, malic acid gives a signal to the mitochondria to USE oxygen to burn fat as fuel or to use oxygen to burn glucose as energy! Isn't that just what we need?

You can find a great product on my website Holisticsuperstore.com
CALCIUM-MAGNESIUM SYNERPRO. Another great product is FIBRALGIA.

Now, get out there and get moving. Yes it is chilly outside in much of the country, but your body was built to move!

What are you doing for your health today?

First Day of the week, Detox has begun...

Lost 2 pounds of sweat/toxins using my Personal Sweat Lodge, aka Far Infrared Sauna. I am about to put my feet into my Ionic Foot Bath for more detox. If you have never had an Ionic Foot Bath, let me tell you something in two words: disgusting, amazing. Normally those two words are not found together on any subject matter, but they belong together when describing the Ionic Foot Bath. I have a Foot Bath system that has stainless steel arrays. It is simply amazing equipment.

I recall when my husband got hit just below the knee with a softball gone wild this past summer. He came home and the hematoma below the knee was just as large as the knee itself! It was ugly too! It was dark purple, red, green and blue. It was so swollen it was hard to bend his knee at all. I sat him down and did an Ionic Foot Bath on him. I want you to know, it pulled every single bit of that blood, inflammation, etc. out of that area and all the way down his leg to his ankle. He then went to bed. Next morning when he arose and stood up he had forgotten about the softball hitting his leg and thought he twisted his ankle/sprained his ankle the night before while playing softball. I reminded him of the facts from the night before. We did another foot detox and I want you to know that it pulled every single bit of the bruising, swelling, discoloration out of the ankle and foot! There was NO evidence of what had occurred less than 24 hours earlier! We should have taken photographs, but didn't. I feel sure this might happen again since he still plays softball and well, I will be camera ready next time! :)

So, I find it interesting just how my body rebels against junk food, empty food, bad food. I wonder if it is because I have made excellent eating habits for so long that if I eat junk food or what I like to call FAKE food for too long, my body goes into a form of rebellion. I do not have acid indigestion, acne, etc. However, if I eat FAKE food more than once or twice, OMG, do I ever pay for it! Enzymes don't help and I am left screaming for mercy! Does this sound familiar? Then detox should be on your mind, too!

How can we expect to have a sharp mind if you feed it FAKE foods, empty foods, toxic foods? Join me in the Detox Revolution (exaggeration intended) for 2010! We must be good to our bodies if we want to have good minds. After all, you really are what you eat!

Until next time...what are you doing for your health and well-being?

Happy New Year! OMG where did this FLAB come from!?

The New Year is here. Yay! How bout that heartburn? Flabby thighs? Turkey arms? Jello stomach? Each year we say we shall not eat in excess. We WILL refrain from the cookies, pies, cakes, boiled custard, eggnog, dressings, gravies, etc. Each year we dive in and partake of foods we would not normally consume on any given day, much less in the quantity we consume during the holidays! Add to the food the alcohol you may consume: wine, spiked nog, champagne for ringing in the headache, I mean, New Year! This is all a recipe for New Year Depression. :(

Well, at least that is the way it feels for me. I am better than I used to be, at least I only lost my mind with food for two weeks this time! :^P

Okay, so we are not perfect and we eat what we know we should not. Well folks, let us put on the big girl and big boy panties and get ready to lose the weight, toxins, excess food coloring, flavoring, preservatives, fat, cholesterol, sweat.

Why sweat you ask? Well, for starters, that is a way for our bodies to release toxins. Yes, that's right, toxins! Did you know our skin acts like a third kidney? Well, it does. It is very important for us to sweat since some toxins ONLY exit our bodies via sweat. Pile on the sweats and walk a mile or two. Walking outside is FREE!

Do you have access to an infrared or far-infrared sauna? If so, USE IT! It is wonderful! It is a modern version of a "Sweat Lodge" and this is good stuff! Native Americans were smart with their sweat lodges...wonderful way to relax and enjoy the heat, allowing the sweat to leave the body and wash away some toxins! ALWAYS drink plenty of clean water. I try to not drink tap water unless it has been filtered very well. Sometimes contaminates can still be found in tap water, so I take no chances and filter my water.

I plan to start my "Detox" with a good internal cleanse. The one I use is one I offer on my product website and the name of it is
"Clean Start Dietary Cleansing/Detox Program".

Not only is it a good start for the new year for cleansing the bowel of "junk" you have eaten, but it helps to detox the body as well. I actually do a cleanse every 6 months, whether I "think" I might need it or not. We just never know what touches our food if we are not preparing it, you know? I don't know about you, based on my own personal experiences, have come to the realize that not everyone has the same idea of good hygiene when it comes to food preparation. I have, more than once, received some unwanted carriers from food - whether bacterial, viral or yes, gross I know, parasites. EGADS! Yes, Houston, we CAN and DO get parasites in the good ole USA!

Until next time...what are you doing for your health and well-being?
